나는 본래가 정의롭다, 하기에는 한참이나 모자라지만 용산만 떠올오면 가슴이
저릿저릿함을 느낀다.
더군다나 이곳은 용산참사의 희생자들을 추모하는 자리인 것이다.
이런 내 마음이 고스란히 읽혔는지
이계안 이사장이 내 어깨를 두드려주었다.
가볍게, 그렇지만

1년 간 장례도 치르지 못한 채 냉동고 속에 머물렀어야 했던 사람들을 떠올리고 기리기 위해
추운 날씨에도 불구하고 이 곳을 가득 메운 시민들.
정말로 많이 모였다. 각자 무슨 생각을 하고 있을까.

조용히 앉아서 한참이나 생각에 잠긴 듯 보였던 이계안 이사장이
남겨놓은 노트를 훔쳐봄으로써 해소되었다.

예배가 거의 끝나갈 때 쯤, 약간은 편한 얼굴로 바뀐 이계안 이사장에게 기분이 어떤지 물었다.
그리고 그는 이어 내게도 기분을 물었다.
그렇지만 이제는 여기 계신 분들, 그리고 떠나가신 분들 모두에게 평안과 안식이 깃들기를 진심으로 바란다.
그는 또다시 말 대신 어깨를 두드려주었다.
첫번째에는 격려가 있었다면 이번에는 동감한다는 의미로 느껴졌다.
